Coalfields was established in 1993 in the mining town of Hwange with the goal of providing quality education for all learners regardless of educational background. The school has grown over time in educational achievement and infrastructural development. Now, Coalfields has a capacity to enroll 200 learners.
As a school, Coalfields believes in continuous improvement of its educational systems through empowering learners and educators. The school boasts of highly qualified and well motivated personnel that gives the school a competitive advantage in Matabeleland North region.
The school is wholly owned by the community and is governed by a Board of Governors. Coalfields is a member of Association of Trust Schools (ATS) and the head is a member of Conference of Heads of Independent Schools in Zimbabwe (CHISZ).
